The Railroad Workers Rank-and-File Committee is holding an online rally this Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Eastern/ 4:00 p.m. Pacific time to oppose Washington’s imposition of a contract that workers rejected to block a national strike. Over the weekend, the World Socialist Web Site and the Railroad Workers Rank-and-File Committee have received dozens of statements from workers around the world expressing support and solidarity for US railroaders, following last week’s passage of a bipartisan law imposing a contract which workers rejected.

Biden and congressional Democrats shed crocodile tears as they rammed through the deal with record speed, claiming that banning strike action was necessary to protect “working families.” But these letters show that workers support the railroaders, not Washington. Many even said they would support wildcat strike action against the contract and pledged to do whatever they could to support it.

Suburban Washington D.C.: “Congress’s action further solidifies how [distant] the systems of government stand from the desires of their constituents. I support all workers’ rights to rebel against authoritarianism and exploitation, and I am hopeful that a wildcat strike not only cripples our national economy, but that it also bankrupts the exploitative elites who have been rapaciously profiting off the backs of an overly-exploited but fed-up proletariat. Solidarity forever!”

Tasmania, Australia: “The only way: unite your class struggles with other Key Industries who, be it Nurses and Teachers, have brought the whole US of A to a quivering halt in many areas, and expose the treachery of the corrupt, present-day, highly paid, Union-Bosses, Sell-Out-Merchants.”

Southeast Michigan: “What ‘our’ elected politicians have done in this matter is not happening in a vacuum. This is part of a greater capitalist strategy that has been conducted since neo-liberal gangster-capitalist Reagan.

“Many of you have realized and observed that, for the capitalists and their sycophant pawns in the US Congress and their servile corporate agents controlling the unions, they [work out] any sort of compromise with the workers. … Just think of how all those senators, and congressmen, and board of directors, and union officials live. Like kings. They expect you to work 24 hours a day for free. I truly hope everyone gets inspired now. I wish you all the very best of luck.”

Glasgow, Scotland: “Standing in solidarity from across the pond!”

Hampshire, England: “We’re standing with you. Solidarity from the UK.”

Surrey, England: “As a British rail worker, I cannot believe my US equivalent is not paid full sick pay for the first 6 months of illness. Also, it's incredible that Congress gets to vote on US rail workers’ terms, conditions and pay rates, etc. I can only offer my full support to the striking US rail workers and urge them to continue their fight against the greedy capitalists that are suppressing their human rights.”

Cleveland, Ohio: “Any contract that railway workers have already rejected is invalid and inoperative. Any suspension of railroader democratic and Constitutional rights is equally invalid and inoperative.

“A precedent for future attacks by the ruling classes on the whole working class can be blocked ONLY [if] ALL workers everywhere stand with railroad workers NOW!”

Frederick, Maryland: “Union management has been co-opted by the owners. Politicians work for the owners. We do not stand a chance unless we unite globally.”

Bangor, Maine: “Unite and strike! I can go without my Lucky Charms being delivered.”

A student: “I am emailing to express my full support for any and all collective action taken by railway employees, particularly in light of this recent troubling vote by the US Congress. I am presently a student and previously spent ten years as a service industry worker, and in fact have been writing an essay highlighting the injustice of these actions by President Joe Biden and the members of the House and the Senate. I believe that this vote sets a terrible precedent and that all workers everywhere should stand up in solidarity with the railroaders. We have nothing to lose but our chains!

Normally i just try to spread awareness about the causes i believe in, but watching some lying senile old idiot invite people to the White House to eat lobster a couple days after he tells the working class to go to hell got me feeling like I need to do whatever i can within the realms of legality to help you guys and your cause.
