As UPS continues mass layoffs, Teamsters bureaucrats promote Trump’s newly confirmed right-wing Labor Secretary, former Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRememer.
This follows the discontinuation of the day sort shift in mid-April of last year when over 300 UPS part-timers were laid off by the company, citing a decline in package volume as the main excuse.
This is the latest hub to be closed since the passage of the new Teamsters contract in 2023, which union officials falsely described as a "historic" victory.
Current and recently retired UPS workers in California recently spoke to WSWS reporters on the ongoing layoffs and the refusal of the union to fight for workers.
